Position Overview

The Development Director is responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that sustains and grows our impact across programs and partnerships. This role involves cultivating relationships with donors, managing grant processes and leading fundraising events, all while staying deeply rooted in our values.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising Strategy and Implementation:

• Develop and execute a multi-channel fundraising strategy aligned with Kintsugi Village’s mission and growth goals.
• Collaborate with leadership to create short- and long-term development plans, including annual campaigns, major gifts, grants, events and donor stewardship.
• Monitor philanthropic trends and community needs to inform fundraising approaches.

Donor Engagement and Stewardship:

• Cultivate and maintain authentic relationships with individual donors, foundations and corporate partners.
• Collaborate with founding board members in a divide and conquer relationship management strategy
• Manage a donor engagement journey that emphasizes transparency, trust and joy.
• Oversee donor data management, including CRM systems and reporting.

Grant Management:

• Identify grant opportunities that align with our work across early education, arts, culinary and community impact.
• Prepare compelling grant proposals, letters of intent and reports that reflect the voice and vision of Kintsugi Village.
• Gather data, stories and impact metrics to demonstrate return on donor contributions.

Event Planning and Community Building:

• Plan and execute fundraising events, ranging from intimate gatherings to larger community experiences.
• Ensure all fundraising efforts align with the spirit of Kintsugi—relational, intentional and beautiful.

Qualifications

Required:

• Proven experience in fund development, with a track record of securing small and large  gifts across various channels.
• Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills, with the ability to move people through storytelling.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Commitment to Kintsugi Village’s mission and values.

Preferred:

• Familiarity with the philanthropic landscape in Detroit or Southeast Michigan.
• Experience in early childhood, arts, culinary or wellness-based initiatives.
• Proficiency in donor CRM systems.
