It takes a Village

In the heart of Detroit, something special is taking root. Kintsugi Village is a place dreamed up by people with big hearts, winding life stories and a shared hope for what’s possible when community comes together.

We’re starting with the littlest among us — creating an early childhood education center where curiosity leads, stories are honored and every child is seen and celebrated. Inspired by both tradition and imagination, our approach blends life skills, play and learning in ways that help kids grow into themselves — socially, emotionally, and academically.

But we’re not stopping there. We’re building a new kind of model — one that brings education, the arts and community under one joyful roof. It’s bold, a little scrappy and full of heart — and we hope it becomes a blueprint for other neighborhoods to dream just as big.

Join us as we prepare to open our doors in Fall 2025.

about us

Built from a solid foundation

At the core of the Kintsugi Village lies a foundation built on resilience, compassion, and dedication. Our co-founders embody these principles, having devoted their lives to forging connections, fostering relationships, and transforming personal challenges into sources of strength and beauty.

the philosophy of

Kintsugi

Kintsugi is a traditional Japanese art form that involves repairing broken pottery with lacquer mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. Instead of hiding the cracks, Kintsugi celebrates the imperfections and highlights the beauty of the broken pieces.

This philosophy is metaphorically applied to the Kintsugi Village by emphasizing resilience, adaptability, creativity, and the beauty of overcoming challenges.
