A Heartfelt Thank You From Kintsugi Village
During this season of Thanksgiving, our hearts are especially full. 2025 has been a year of building—literally and figuratively—and we’ve been reminded again and again that Kintsugi Village exists because of the people who believed in it, shaped it, and brought it to life. Today, we simply want to say thank you.
To our partners who helped us secure the property, envisioned the design, and guided the construction—your expertise, patience, and belief in what this Village could become made every step possible. You helped transform an idea into a place where community, creativity and kids can thrive side by side.
To Brightside Collective—thank you for helping us imagine and begin creating the outdoor oasis at Kintsugi Village. Your partnership brought Detroit’s first SUGi pocket forest to life and planted the beginnings of a space for learning, meditation, and community gathering. We’re so grateful for your vision and for the roots—literally and figuratively—you’ve helped us lay down.
To the countless neighbors, community members and block clubs who hosted us, welcomed us into their living rooms and community spaces, and showed up to share your hopes, concerns, and wishes for what the Village could be—thank you. Because of you, the Village was shaped in real time. Parking flow, drop-off design, aftercare hours, meeting rooms, gardens, open spaces, an event space—all of it reflects your voices, your experience and your vision for what strengthens a neighborhood.
To our founding team who took a chance on a new idea and stepped into an environment that wasn’t quite ready—you show up every day with warm hearts, big smiles and a deep commitment to our families. You roll up your sleeves, problem-solve with grace, and build the spirit of the Village long before the walls are finished.

To our volunteers and the more than 500 Detroiters (and a few out-of-towners!) who came out on October 11th to celebrate our grand opening—thank you. It was a magical day: falling leaves swirling around us, goats humming in the background and the Cass Tech band buzzing with energy. You made it unforgettable.
To the restaurateurs who brought incredible food and nourished the celebration—you turned our opening day into a true feast of community.
To our founding families who trusted us with their children and joined our very first class—thank you for walking alongside us. You shared honest feedback, asked thoughtful questions, and supported this growing vision with generosity and patience. You’ve helped us strengthen our foundation in ways that will benefit generations to come.
And most importantly—
To our first customers: the little humans.
The curious, joyful, tender, wildly imaginative, love-filled kids who fill the Village with purpose every single day. You remind us why we do this. You teach us, stretch us, ground us and bring us incredible joy.
Thank you for being on this journey with us.
We wish you and yours a warm, nourishing, and wholehearted holiday season.
With deep gratitude,
The Kintsugi Village Team
